Creativism |
I'm hard at work preparing for tonight's big unveiling of Team Technographic's animated project, and as one of the project leads, it means I have to work twice as hard as almost everyone else- Jazz excluded. Right now I'm busy storyboarding, and I can't quite tell if this is the easiest part of the process, or the hardest.

Great Source Material is Crucial |
We're all pretty excited about it at HQ, gotta say. Red won't stop talking about it, that's for sure. Then again, I think he's just excited to be included in something like this, more than anything. Sam has been on my ass day in and day out to get more concept art done, and Sean has-- well, Sean is just sorta biding his time, as always. Meanwhile, Jazz and I are trying to get the script fleshed out and all that, and I'm storyboarding what we have so far, so we at least have something to show for our work tonight. This is, by far, the most complicated undertaking I've committed myself to in my entire artistic career, let me tell you. I've been doing research day in and day out, picking up any tricks I can. Been familiarizing myself with the works of Bruce Timm, Stephen Silver, Brandon Vietti, Lauren Montgomery, and Ben Caldwell, primarily, as they've seemed to find the most cohesive balance between simplicity and detail. I'm especially a fan of Caldwell's style, using raw geometry and a melodramatic sense of anatomy, without going too overboard.
I gotta say, it's been a long and drawn out process so far, but it's been a lot of fun, and really educational. And it's helped me to get reacquainted with my creative roots. It's been a while since I actually went out and bought a comic book, but reading through Teen Titans #85 and Red Robin, it's shown me how much I've been missing out on. I've got a lot of catching up to do!
