In the world of animation, those involved in pre-production- the Storyboard Artists, Character Artists, Writers, Background Artists- are the Rock Stars. They create the content, put forward the idea necessary to entertain us. But production animators- key and tween animators- are busting their humps to help get our ideas out there. And they're getting left in the dust.
Right now, Japan's Anime industry is in trouble, facing issues to do outsourcing. While sending projects to India and Korea may be cheaper and faster to get the work done, it's leaving Japan with fewer and fewer experienced animators of it's own, putting hundreds of animators out of a job. Not too terribly long ago, we here in the US faced the same problem. Right now, we may not have a way to help, but in the future? Maybe we could help take donations to start grants and funds for animation schools, scholarships for students who want to get a degree in animation. But none of that will happen if we don't show our support now. Raise awareness, pass on the word. Or hundreds of thousands of hardcore Anime fans may find their favorite past time vanish. I may not be a massive anime buff, but I respect what it's creators do, and I feel for their problem. So spread the word. Who knows, maybe we'll be able to do something to help.
