Earlier today, the internet on my parents' farm was shut off for reasons that were, at the time, unknown. Until their provider called them up to chastise them about uploading was against their usage policy.
...Uploading? Uploading?!
My mom texted me to tell me about it, jumping my ass initially since, being the most computer-savvy member of my immediate family, she assumed it was me. Until my little brother stepped up. Apparently, he'd fallen into the habit of using Frostwire.
What ensued was a good ten-minute long ass-ripping from me about how he was putting the entire family network at risk by using a program which leaves an open door to hackers and hard-line viruses. Shortly after, he deleted Frostwire. Was I too hard on him? Possibly. I was a little irked that my parents just sort of automatically assumed whatever happened was my fault. But Chris should have known better. I'm pretty sure he and I have had that discussion before. Besides, every time something electronic in that household crashes, I get to trot my happy ass out there to try and fix it. And if I can't fix it, I have to get on the phone and call up my buddy Sam Campbell to see if he can save it. So yes. Yes, I was a tad bit tweaked about the whole ordeal. I'm just glad he actually listened to me this time. At least, for now. I mean, if he wants music, I'll get him music. I've got tons of music. Hell, I'll buy him a CD for Christmas. Still, what was he doing UPLOADING? I hope I don't find out my little brother is a closet pirate, or some bad things are going to go down in that house.
